Scotland’s worst terrorist incident occurred on the evening of Dec. 21, 1988 when a bomb exploded on board a PanAm Boeing 747 air liner on course from Frankfurt to New York. It crashed on the village of Lockerbie (Dumfries and Galloway), killing everyone on board as well as many on the land, a total of 270 people lost their lives. This terrible incident was devastating for the community of Lockerbie, as well as everyone who lost a loved one.
The enquiry into this disaster was described by Scotland’s Lord Advocate as the UK’s largest criminal inquiry led by the smallest police force in Britain, namely, Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary. Over three years 15,000 witness statements were taken and indictments for murder were issued on 13 November 1991 against Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi and Lamin Khalifah Fhimah. al- Megrahi. They both always claimed their innocence of this hideous crime.
al-Megrahi, who has terminal cancer has recently been released on compasionate grounds – being allowed to return to Libya to be with his wife. This decision has angered many on both sides of the Atlantic, with US president Barrack Obama calling the act a “mistake” and Conservative leader David Cameron describing it as “some completely nonsensical thinking”.
Some campaigners are so outraged by the release that they going as far as calling for a boycott on Scotland. Telling people not to travel to Scotland or to buy goods from Scotland. As a Scottish company that only sells Scottish products and promotes all things Scottish we are in a direct firing line. There has also been an extensive anti-Scotland tweeting campaign.
The office has received various e-mails concerning this matter, here are a couple we have just recently received :

yOU MAY NOT HAVE A DEAL WITH lIBYA BUT YOU NOW HAVE A DEALK WITH US!”
Another email we had stated “While I appreciate your staying in contact, I am FURIOUS at the Scottish Govt for releasing the terrorist back to Libya.
WHAT IS GOING ON IN MY ANCESTRAL COUNTRY ??????”.
